I Love Saturdays!

This morning, my cellphone’s ringing woke me up.  That’s when I found out that it was almost lunch time.  Long sleep?  Naaah…It’s just that last night, Mike and I had so much fun watching some old episodes of Boy Meets World on YouTube that we lost track of time.  And what do you know…it’s already past 2:00 a.m. and we were still up and kicking!  The result…waking up at 11:30 a.m.

Mike was supposed to come over my house today but he and Allen had to do some errands.  So, instead of us just lounging at home and watching House M.D., we got to spend Saturday differently than planned.  It’s a good thing though ‘cuz at least we still got to spend some time together.  The guys picked me up on their way, and like a packed mule, I brought with me 3 bowls of spaghetti and 3 bottles of water for each of us…just something to eat on the road.  Then, on our way to virramall, through Mike and Allen’s patience, I learned the basics of Texas Holdem.  I’m already quite familiar with the game because I’ve seen it on Celebrity Poker but now, I’m interested to give it a try!  Show me the moneeeey!!!  Hehehehe!!!

Anyway, moving on…we dropped Allen off somewhere in UN Avenue, then Mike and I went straight to the condo.  Hmmm…now this was where the fun started!  I’m sure you’ll never guess what we did (or you probably would…Hahaha!!!)  But seriously, here are the clues: Now That I Have You…Because Of You…I know these are all song titles, but no, we did not spend the afternoon on Videoke.  We spent it watching these movies!  Hahaha!!!  Not really my kind…but hey, believe it or not, I actually enjoyed them, well that was probably because I was with Mike while watching, but still it was fun!  What’s more surprising was that I liked the part with Sandara in it!  Hahahaha!!!  So funny!!!  Now, I realized that I should never underestimate Tagalog movies.  You should all give it a try sometime…you may even be surprised with your own reactions.

Overall, the day was quite tiring but I loved every minute of it.  I got to go out, I learned a few things about poker, I got to hear some of Allen’s ranting (which, by the way, never fails to amaze me), I got to see some fun movies, and best of all, I got to spend the day with the person I most treasure.  Loved the haircut honey! ^_^

Mishy got a haircut…

Scissors You read the title right.  After months of trying to maintain my long hair and failing miserably (Mike didn’t agree with this though ‘cuz he loved the long hair)…even going as far as attempting to have it permed to get those pretty locks…(with emphasis on the word "attempting" because sad to say, that failed miserably too!  The salon just couldn’t produce some curls out of my damned straight hair even after soaking it in chemicals for one and a half agonizing hours)…I finally decided to have a haircut.  I told the hairstylist that I want my hair trimmed then layered a little bit on the back and sides, and so that’s exactly what I got.  The resulting style isn’t really fancy, but I think the look works for me.

Yes, I wanted to have a different look because I already grew tired of my old one.  But my ultimate reason for the haircut was just plain and simple…I am lazy!  To explain further, let me show you how my daily morning routine works…wake up, drink a glass of milk, take my daily dosage of vitamins, brush my teeth, do the obvious, take a bath, get dressed, comb my hair (more like untangling the strands), spray some perfume, then off to work.  You got it right!  No moisturizers, no lotions, no putting on make up, and yes, I leave the house with my hair still dripping wet, which means no blow-drying of hair for me!  As soon as I get in the car, I turn on the AC to full blast so by the time I reach the office, my hair would already be slightly dried.  Absurd?  Probably…but I would rather sleep longer than wake up 10 minutes earlier just so I could dry my hair.

Now, with a much shorter hair, I use less shampoo and conditioner…taking a bath definitely takes a shorter time…combing is way easier…and drying my hair is so much faster!  I may have lost a few inches of hair from that haircut, but I’ve gained 10 more minutes of sleep each day since then!  Cheers for a fuzz-free morning!

Casa-sutra: Lessons from Dr. House (When Truth Lies On Lies)

Do you know why Dr. Gregory House doesn’t like talking to his patients?  That’s because by doing so, he’s giving them the opportunity to tell him lies.

Lesson #1:

Everybody lies” is what he always says.  Smart one, that doctor! Eccentric, yes…but really smart!

No matter how one denies ever doing it even once in his life, do not believe him!  Because the fact is, all of us have done it.  It’s not something we should be proud of…but it’s also not something we should deny  (save the effort, ‘cuz really, it’s just not plausible!)  Sometimes we stretch the truth to make things sound and appear more pleasing (or awful…depending on how we want to present it).  Other times we omit parts of the truth…still to achieve the same purpose as that of the former.  Either way, they’re still lies.

Lesson #2:

When you want to learn the truth about someone, that someone is probably the last person you should ask!“  True?  Most of the time, I believe it is!  Because if he wants to let you know the truth, he should have done so right from the very beginning.  Now if what he wants is to hide whatever it is from you, however way you ask, he’ll just cover it up.

Lesson #3:

When you’re being lied to, do not feel so stupid because hey, you could always outsmart him!  After all, according to Dr. House, “Truth begins in lies…“  Somehow, some way, the truth would find its way.  And what could be more flattering than to discover it coming from his own sweet mouth?

Now who said we can’t learn anything from television?!

What Have I Been Up To…?

Wow!  It’s been more than a year since this blog was last updated.  I
can’t believe sixteen months have already passed!  Come to think of it,
a lot has already happened to me since May of last year…

For those who are interested to know, let me give you the updates:

Left my old job to take a much awaited rest:

This was a very difficult decision that I had to do.  I hated leaving my
colleagues whom I already consider my friends.  But then I realized
that the path where banking would eventually lead me to isn’t what
I really want to tread on in life.

Had half a year of…nothing!

Was just slacking around….and believe it or not, I enjoyed every
minute of it!  Just proved what a lazy (but pretty) ass i have!
Hahaha!!!

Got a new job after 6 months of mastering the art of "couch potato-ing":

I wouldn’t have done this had it not for the coming Christmas season –
cash crisis!  I was sooo relishing my time of nothingness.  Too bad
responsibility kept bugging my conscience!

My relatives from New Zealand and Australia got to celebrate Christmas — Pinoy Style!

Christmas 2005 really was an eventful one.  I got to spend it with my
relatives who had been away from the country for quite some time.  It
would have been better if all of my cousins from New Zealand were able
to come.  Well, there’s always a next time anyway.  I’m just hoping for the
best.

Spent my holy week in Batangas:

This was something I’d never done in 6 long years or so.  Since my mom
was in one of her leisure trips in Hong Kong at that time, I decided to
go to Batangas instead.  Well, what do you know…my aunt, uncle, and
cousins decided to come along!  I’m glad they did ‘cuz it made my stay there
more worthwhile.  We got to go to different places in a whim.  I say we
should do this more often!

Went to Nueva Vizcaya:

It’s been 10 years since I last saw the province.  I was never fond of
going there.  I hated the road.  I still do!  But then I found out that most of my
relatives were going…so, what the heck!  I decided to tag along.  Not
much had changed.  On one side, this was a good thing because I still
remembered some familiar sights…farms on either side of the road,
still the same bahay-kubo along the way…just blissful nostalgia.  On
the other hand, it’s so sad that not much progress had
happened in over a decade.

MS in Entrepreneurship - DLSU:

Back to school for this lazy gal!  Now, just wait and see where this one led to…^_^

Finally got my Video iPod and Macbook Pro!

At last, the long wait is over!  After dreaming of having them for
eternity, finally they’re mine…concrete…tangible!!!  You could just imagine
how elated I was when I found out that my mom actually bought these for
me in the US.  Thanks to Ate Grace’s convincing power!

A break from school:

Due to health reasons, I decided to put off studying for a while.  Rest assured that this will be continued in due time ^_^

Well, these are but a few things
that happened in my year-long absence.  Hope this post makes an
up-to-date blogger out of me from now on!  I
have a good feeling that the next one will take much less than a year
to be published…at least that’s a start!  Keep your fingers crossed,
guys!
